The Board of Certified Genealogists (BCG) is the leading authority in the field of genealogy, which setsboth the technical and ethical standards for the family history industry, professional genealogists and family historians, alike.

The BCG has set forth a set of five (5) components to reaching a research conclusion called the Genealogical Proof Standard (GPS). Adhering to the GPS supports the validity and credibility of the conclusions you will make in all of your own genealogy research.
